The lunar nodes are the two points where the Moon’s path crosses the Sun’s path in the sky. They are places, not objects. Astrologers read the North Node as the direction you are growing toward in this life, and the South Node, always in the opposite sign, as what is familiar and comfortable.
The nodes move backwards through the zodiac, taking about 18.6 years to go all the way round and about a year and a half to cross each sign. These readings are astrological tradition rather than science, and work best as a prompt for reflection.

What is the South Node?
The South Node is always exactly opposite the North Node. In astrology it stands for what is familiar, comfortable and well practised.
What is the difference between the true node and the mean node?
The mean node moves smoothly. The true node follows the actual crossing of the Moon’s path and wobbles around the mean by up to about 1.5 degrees, so the two signs can differ for a few weeks.
